HUD Grant for Working with Homeless Population

Funding notice from Homeless Council of Marion County –

The 2017 Notice of Funding from HUD came out in July.  For any provider working with the homeless population, this is an invitation to review and apply for funding.

The application for funding must be completed in esnaps by Thursday August 24, 2017, emailed and hard copies delivered to the MCHC office by 3:00 pm.

The applications will be reviewed by an impartial committee made up of individuals in the community with no connection to any applicant.  It is anticipated that the community review and announcement of recommendations for funding will occur August 30.  This will also be a date in which applicants will be asked to meet with the committee and given an opportunity to present.

Copies of the Notice of Funding Availability document with links to HUD and esnaps, new and renewing applicant guide, policies as to how committee selected and ranking process, score cards showing what the committee will be looking for in the applications and the appeal process can be obtained from Angie Jurasick.

This year, we are strongly encouraging agencies to apply for 88,606.00 in bonus project funds.   The information on what projects are eligible can be found on pages 10 and 21 of the Notice.

While HUD will review and provide contingency approval for funding in 2017, the grant funds will not be available until 2018.   Any questions, please call Angela Juaristic at 352-427-8655

We have just been advised of the availability of Susan Pourciau to meet with those interested in applying for the bonus dollars from HUD this year.

She has agreed to come to our office on Wednesday (this Wednesday)  August 16 at 10:00 am and answer questions about applying for the bonus .

If you are interested in applying for HUD funding bonus project,  come or send a representative to hear from an expert.

Please feel free to pass this information on to any other organization or project that may be interested in applying.

If you plan to attend, please call Angie Juaristic at 352-427-8655.
