  1. The program focuses on healthy lifestyles to promote better health for families and communities. Grants will be awarded under two Funding Areas:
    Awareness and preventive projects designed to educate populations in need* about mental and behavioral health;
  2. Projects designed to train and create materials to assist populations in need to navigate the health care system and take control of their health. The Foundation will fund two-year or three-year grants. The average amount per year is $80,000-$100,000 for each Funding Area. Eligible applicants are Florida-based, nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status, public agencies, universities, colleges, training centers and other health care related facilities. Priority will be given to applicants that include collaborations and partnerships with other organizations. Deadline: 8-31-2017
  3. Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations, public agencies, universities, colleges, training centers and other health care related facilities that:
    1. are based in Florida;
    2. have the capacity, expertise, resources, knowledge in the field and time needed to carry out the intent of the project;
    3. have expertise in delivering educational and awareness programs on targeted topics to targeted populations described in this application;
    4. have a five-year or longer track record in one or both of the Funding Areas;
    5. have expertise in developing training programs and materials; and
    6. have the capability to reach target populations described in this application.

Letters of Intent for projects in its focus areas of criminal justice, youth justice, and workers’ rights.

  1. Criminal Justice – supports groups working to end over-incarceration of adult offenders and reduce racial disparities in the United States.
  2. Youth Justice – supports groups working to end the criminalization and over-incarceration of youth in the United States.
  3. Workers’ Rights – supports policy and system reforms to improve the lives of low-wage working people in the United States, with a focus on securing their basic legal rights to safe, healthy, and fair conditions at work.

To be eligible, applicants must be considered a tax-exempt nonprofit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Letters of inquiry may be submitted throughout the year. Healthy Housing Grants

The National Center for Healthy Housing has announced an open application for up to $5,000 grants for lead poisoning prevention events. Ten or more communities will be awarded grants to support events during the fall of 2017.  Examples of events could include workshops, roundtable discussions, awareness events for children and families, press conferences, or coalition-building; the details are up to you, but a successful event will help create momentum around actions to advance local lead poisoning prevention efforts. The program will help to increase the capacity of your organization to recruit, manage, support and retain skills-based volunteers to serve in high-value volunteer assignments. Through this innovative approach, skills-based volunteering, will capture the skills, experience, talents and education of volunteers and matches them with the needs of your nonprofit. VGF is open to any community or faith-based organization that maintains 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, or a government entity in Florida. The applicant must be an organization that mobilizes people and resources to deliver creative solutions to community problems.
