Paddock Place Apartments has a history of a strong community, resident-centric services, and its partnership with Measure Up Marion is the latest example. Together with its partner QuitDoc, Measure Up Marion has helped Paddock Place convert its outdoor areas to a “tobacco-free zone” for residents and guests.
A tobacco-free outdoor environment awaits residents and guests at Steeplechase Apartments, including the shared outdoor areas of swimming pools, playground, tennis court, basketball courts and volleyball courts, contributing to a cleaner and healthier living environment. The complex has joined with Measure Up Marion to make its outdoor areas tobacco-free, complete with signage. Measure Up Marion has been working closely with multi-unit housing complexes to help bring awareness to the dangers of secondhand smoke, even in outdoor environments.
As reported by the U.S. Surgeon General, no amount of secondhand smoke is safe and even a small exposure to secondhand smoke can be dangerous, especially to young lungs. The tobacco-free amenities at Steeplechase, which now feature Tobacco Free Signage thanks to the Measure Up Marion initiative, are most frequently used by children and families of the community. The complex also intends for the signs to help change the social norms of tobacco use and abuse.
